Our Story

In 2015, Aaron Custalow (our base director), was leading a summer youth camp here in Fredericksburg called the Marked Teen Camp. On the last day, something unusual happened and God visited the camp in a powerful way. Students and staff were weeping for hours as God began speaking His love, revealing Himself, and pouring out the Holy Spirit on them. During this powerful time of encounter, Jesus spoke to Aaron and said, “Go to the high schools.” He said, “What I’m doing in this room I want to do in high schools all across America.”

After this encounter, Aaron began to connect with a ministry out of Los Angeles, CA called One Voice Student Missions, led by Brian Barcelona. They had been seeing hundreds of students gather every week for “Jesus Clubs” and they experienced revival in multiple campuses throughout the LA school district. Aaron shared what God had spoken to him and began to discuss with them the prospect of launching an east coast mission base of One Voice here in Virginia.

It turned out that Brian already had a prophetic word about it. Brian shared this word that had been given through Todd White that a move of God was going sweep California, then it was going to go to the East Coast and sweep the whole coast even up into Canada. He said this move of God was going to result in a student volunteer missions movement of high schoolers to the nations. Many other dreams, words, and visions were shared, and it became clear that God was leading them to partner together to plant this East Coast base.

On October 7th, 2017, at a national gathering of worship and prayer called Awaken The Dawn, One Voice Student Missions officially launched this base here in Virginia, called “One Voice Mid-Atlantic.” They started off with a small team, just Aaron, his family, and two campus missionaries- Zach & Joanna. But this team, along with their community (the Fredericksburg Prayer Furnace), began to labor in prayer and intercession almost daily for an open door of the Gospel on the public high school campuses of the region.

This open door came on the day of Billy Graham’s death (February 21st, 2018). That day we launched our first Jesus Club which gathered over 250 students in the auditorium, and 130 teenagers came to Jesus! Since then we have seen many doors opening on campuses, have continued to plant more clubs, and are watching what looks like the beginnings of a Jesus movement in our high schools.

Our Vision

Our One Voice team desires to partner with and resource local churches and community leaders to reach every student on every campus with the love of Jesus Christ. Through engaging campus programs called "Jesus Clubs," our mission is to see high school students SAVED through encounter with God and the preaching of the gospel, DISCIPLED in the context of loving & Biblical community, and SENT out as laborers to their campus, the nations, and every sphere of society. We believe that now more than ever the high schools of America are ripe for the harvest!
